Theatrical Web Site brings Frida Kahlo’s
Colorful Marriage To Life for Stage Debut

November, 2002, Los Angeles. Desktop Graphics produces low-cost latin-flavored site for musical play’s debut.

Miracle Data home pageFor the launch of a promotional campaign for their new musical, Frida & Diego, authors Adair Seldon and Keiko Takeda came to Eric Oxenberg with a simple request: build a web site that would complement the production designs, color schemes and quirky humor of their stage show. Oh, and produce it on a shoestring budget.

Using a palette based on works of art from the famous artist who is the focus of their work, Eric designed a colorful site with a Central Mexican motif. Icons of Aztec origin melded with modern typography and black and white photos to push the fresh approach of the stage work. Upon launch, the playwrights sent out a simultaneous email blitz along with an oversize postcard with the same design to over 500 theater agents and stage schedulers nationwide.

The result: Excellent response from contacted participants led to a number of inquiries and several promising leads for future stage productions of the show. Many recipients, after seeing the site, also attended the premiere run in San Francisco, which won high marks in local trades. The site remains alive, and is updated regularly after new performances.
