December 1997, Los Angeles. Having the opportunity to build a new internet community from scratch, DGS becomes the design firm of record for WeKruz Productions of Laguna Beach, CA.
When approached to create a complex, interactive web site for inline skaters(the fastest-growing segment in recreation/fitness), DGS founder Eric Oxenberg used his appreciation for fringe culture (and a quick immersion into the world of inline skates) to produce edgy yet accessable web design which perfectly targeted the diverse inline skating community.
In a process taking four months, DGS concieved and produced upwards of 80 pages of unique content for N2inline.com, the inline community site, plus a corporate marketing site, wekruz.com, for the parent company. Using a funky, fresh approach driven by animated characters devised by WeKruz, DGS was able to use colorful and tightly interconnected sections with a minimally intrusive navigation system.
Additional features of the site were the inclusion of chat forums, an e-commerce store area, and a query-driven database system where users could find other skaters in their local communities, get information about various professional events, and post their own skater profiles for other users to view.
Sold in the online store, this shirt was designed for the X-Games. DGS was responsible for overall site design and implementation, new content posting, coordination with programming venders and hosting providers, content creation and editing. Content was provided by the WeKruz staff, with DGS handling Photoshop image manipulation and compositing for web delivery.
Annual billing for the account is approximately $50,000.
