March 10, 1996, Los Angeles, CA: Desktop Graphic Services owner works on web team to develop a high-end internet site for the well-known luxury automobile maker, Lexus.Hired on as a temporary staff member, DGS founder Eric Oxenberg worked with advertising agency Team One Advertising for multimedia shop Digital Evolution, Inc., to produce the high-tech site. The Lexus site (www.lexususa.com) pushes the envelope in state-of-the-art technologies, incorporating extensive database scripting, user tracking, and Shockwave® animation.
The agency asked Digital Evolution for such elements as custom image maps, browser-savvy scripting which determined which of three virtual sites viewers would be guided into, and web pages that appear to have come directly from print ads (an almost impossible task for standard html editors to accomplish).
The daunting task took the team members, which counted two html designers (including Mr. Oxenberg), an art director, several illustrators, three programmers, three project managers and account service people, only six weeks to complete.

Eric Oxenberg, as HTML Designer/Agency Liaison, worked with Team One's Art Director and Account Supervisor, ensuring that pages conformed to the vision of the agency, as well as creating and manipulating images for inclusion into the site. Much of the actual web coding, as well as responsibility for bug testing and proofing of pages, was his also.Mr. Oxenberg also used his experience in software development to create in-house databases for Digital Evolution to track incoming elements from the agency, as well as to write a "Help" section in the web site for inexperienced users.
After the official launch of the Lexus site on Friday, March 1, data tracking showed upwards of 60 simultaneous hits per second, with an estimated 20,000 visits the first weekend.
The final word? The client, Team One, and by extension Lexus, was extremely pleased, and Digital Evolution had a new prestigeous web site to add to their client list. Mr. Oxenberg is very happy to have helped smooth the way for a successful web development effort.
