Technical Support Information
You can import information from your old setup file by opening the new MacDesign Billing files, clicking on the setup button, entering the password, and importing your old file information. Open MacDesign Billing, enter your password, and when it finishes loading, click on the First-Time Setup button. Put setup into the password field if asked. The Setup file will open.
Under the FILE menu is a selection: Import/Export. Choose Import records. Navigate in your Macintosh to the old Setup file and select it. In the following dialog box are two choices you should select. At the top is a pull-down selector, it should say Matching Names; the other is a button at the bottom saying Replace data in current found set. it should be selected. Click on the Import button. Ignore the following options and click Okay.
You will have imported the Setup record from the old file to the new file. If you have an older model Epson inkjet printer, such as the 600, 800, 640, 740, Stylus Color or Stylus Pro, you may have a problem printing from your Macintosh, including system crashes or nothing happening after the print command. This is the result of a known conflict between older Epson printer drivers and the software used to write MacDesign Billing (FileMaker Pro). The issue was first noted with MacDesign Billing version 2.5.5 and G3 PowerBooks running OS 8.1 with an Epson 600 printer. You should first download the latest drivers for your printer from the Epson website and install them. This will in most cases solve the problem. If you still have problems, you will have to upgrade (for existing owners) or purchase FileMaker Pro. More information can be found on the FileMaker website. Once you upgrade you should throw away the MacDesign Billing application and use FileMaker Pro to open and use your MacDesign Billing data files. The way you use MacDesign Billing will remain the same. Note: MacDesign Billing is designed to work properly with most Apple and other laser printers and, while your results may be fine, is not guaranteed to print acceptably from any inkjet printers. If you have further questions about this procedure, call DGS Technical Support at (310) 391-5275 between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm (PST) weekdays, or with your question.
