NETWORK SETUP AND CONFIGURATION

This type of support includes Internet Protocol (IP) subnet design using gateway, masking, and IP-addressing services provided by eMed's Technical Services Group. All network electronics, whether wide-area network (WAN), integrated services data network, or point-to-point protocol, are configured by eMed, and existing information-service and imaging equipment is integrated using the appropriate switches, bridges, and routers.

eMed personnel coordinate telecommunications services to ensure the correct implementation of links after determining which third-party telecommunications package is most cost effective for the institution. Network provision and installation is managed by eMed, which cooperates with the telecommunications provider in fault isolation.

Performance testing is conducted for limited-area networks (LANs) and WANs, and the integration of new DICOM interfaces added by other vendors is provided. Expansion of the IP network is also included in management services, as are changes made to the network.
