    Clicker Training
    Two 20- to 30-minute Seminars on Saturday and Sunday

Terry Long, CPDT, a nationally-certified professional dog trainer and behavior specialist, owns DogPACT, a training and behavior consultation company located in Long Beach, CA. DogPACT provides pet manners/obedience, tricks, and agility training, as well as behavior modification programs for problem behaviors such as separation anxiety and aggression. DogPACT trainers specialize in clicker training, using this scientifically proven, reward-based training technique to teach everything from pet manners and tricks, to performance sports, and to resolving serious behavior problems.

Terry’s I Love Dogs Expo seminars will share how to use clicker training to teach pet manners, tricks, agility, and flyball on Sunday. Her protégé, and founding member of the Woof Gang flyball club of Orange County, Nikki Myers, will do the same on Saturday.

Tammy and Deanise, certified Master Groomers, are executive members of the Southern California Pet Groomers Association and are donating their skills to primp the canine contestants of our bi-daily fashion show. Paul Owens is the author of the acclaimed The Dog Whisperer: A Compassionate Nonviolent Approach to Dog Training. He is a leading exponent of nonviolent animal training in the United States. Paul is the director of Raise with Praise, a nonprofit educational organization and the founder/director of the children’s after-school, violence prevention program, Paws for Peace. Paul is certified by the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (CPDT) and the Delta Society’s Animal Assisted Therapy Program. He is an endorsed member of The National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors (NADOI). Paul will offer a seminar on the important points of training a new puppy or dog. Jan Ellen Plotkin, MFT is a psychotherapist, hypnotherapist and pet intuitive with a full spectrum intuitive ability. She also conducts workshops throughout the United States.

    Guiding You And Your Dog To A Better Relationship
    Two 20- to 30-minute Seminars on Saturday, and One Sunday Afternoon

John Flanagan is not just a dog trainer, he is highly intuitive, with an innate ability to teach people how to better communicate with their canine friends. A gentle giant, he stand 6'4" and is often referred to as the “Dr. Phil” of dogs. A graduate of the SFSPCA and COC programs, John is an authority in both obedience and agility, and is certified as an AKC evaluator for the Canine Good Citizen test. His mentors include Dr. Ian Dunbar, Jean Donaldson, Karen Pryer, Terry Ryan and Pavlov. As a Group 1 Animal Trainer and Teamster, he is well respected in the TV and film communities.

  • Sarah Anderson
    The Big 5
    Three 15-minute Seminars on Saturday and Sunday

Sarah Anderson is a member of APDT, and teaches several classes a week on advanced obedience with a focus on the Canine Good Citizen Test, flyball, pet first aid, and tricks. She specializes on dogs labeled as “aggressive” or “unadoptable”. By working with these dogs, Sarah gives them a chance at a second life. When not on stage, Sarah can be found with the Boxer Rescue LA booth.

Almost 90% of all dogs turned into shelters have had no obedience. Obedience is a common language between you and your dog, we will teach you the voice commands and hand signals for “The Big 5” -- commands that every dog should know. We’ll also show you that learning never stops, and teach you some fun, and easy trick that all dogs can do. Remember a well trained dog is a pet, not a pest.

  • Jeremy Talamantes, K-9 Behavior Services
    Obedience and Assistance Dog Training
    Two 20- to 30-minute Seminars on Saturday and Sunday

K-9 Behavior Services, along with K-9 Assistance Services, Inc., a non-profit public benefit corporation, have come together to raise funds to place Assistance Dogs free of charge to the disabled through contributions. K-9 Behavior Services has developed a scientific approach to dog training, Specific Reflex Conditioning, which is used in their obedience, protection, search and rescue and assistance dogs training programs.

Lead trainer and owner, Jeremy Talamantes will be presenting basic obedience and assistance dog demos on stage both Saturday and Sunday. When not performing or showing off his Assistance Dog along the aisles, you can find Jeremy and his team at their booth.

  • Trainer Pat Troise
    Training with Dogtra, The Best in Remote Collars
    Two 10-minute Demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday

Pat Troise of The Compatible Pet is a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals, and competes in UKC, NADAC, ASCA, and USDAA events with hers dogs. Pat founded her own business in 1999 after discovering the effectiveness of remote training collars. She has trained dogs for films, behavioral issues and has taught competition sport handlers. Pat uses Dogtra collars because nothing else comes remotely close.
