Responsible breeders are those who take steps to improve their breed in health, form and temperament, and educate those interested in their breed on responsible pet ownership. The success of their breeding programs is proven at confirmation events presented by the clubs affiliated with the registering body with which their dogs are registered. The most popular of these registering organizations are the American Kennel Club (AKC), The United Kennel Club (UKC), and the American Rare Breed Association (ARBA). The clubs that are affiliated with these registering organizations have stringent codes of ethics that support responsible breeding. Breeders who exhibit at I Love Dogs Expo must be a member of a recognized dog club. If they bring dogs under a year of age to the event, these puppies must have a minimum of three confirmed champions in their previous three generations. These high standards of quality are unmatched by any other venue where dogs are exhibited to the public.

Reputable rescue groups are non-profit, tax-exempt organizations dedicated to the rescue of dogs, the promotion of adoptions of sheltered or fostered dogs, and the education of the public about the breeds they rescue. I Love Dogs Expo understands that each breed is unique in character, ability and the responsibilities they require of their loving owners. Single breed rescue groups are knowledgeable of their specific breed and will provide those who adopt one of their dogs, all the education they need for a rewarding and positive experience. For this reason, I Love Dogs Expo presents only single breed, credible rescue groups.
We recognize the societal importance of all-breed rescue organizations such as SPCAs and shelters. We do welcome such organizations that have proven themselves exceptional in the process of finding, caring for and placing their dogs.
