I Love Dogs Expo
Managed by WholePet
(866) DOG-EXPO

All breeders exhibiting at I LOVE DOGS EXPO are currently being asked to agree to the following Code of Ethics and to be bound by its standard of behavior. Documented proof of breeders who fail to comply, are subject to removal from the show without refund or credit, and/or are not asked back to subsequent shows.

1. I will provide information on the characteristics and traits of my specific breed to interested individuals, and be a resource to owners of pets that I have sold for the life of the dog.

2. I will maintain a safe, clean and sanitary booth.

3. I will not deliberately degrade any exhibitor, their dogs, kennel or business.

4. I will breed only for the purpose of improving the quality of the breed. Breedings will be planned, selecting a stud dog and bitch to be mated based on their pedigrees, conformation and temperament.

5. I will abide by the show policy not to sell dogs at the Expo or on the venue property.

6. I will be knowledgeable about inherited health problems in my breed and will perform appropriate health clearances on all breeding stock.

7. I will not knowingly misrepresent the characteristics of the breed, nor falsely advertise, or mislead any person regarding the history, ability or personality of any dogs available for placement.

8. I will not breed any male or female until they are both physically and mentally mature, and I will not continue to breed any male or female beyond an appropriate age for the breed, nor will I over breed a bitch as to compromise their health.

    1. I will comply with all federal, state or provincial and local government laws and regulations concerning the keeping of dogs and the disclosure of information to new owners.
    2. I will not bring to the Expo a puppy less than 4 months of age. I will be knowledgeable of any health risks associated with exhibiting puppies at a public event, and take proper precautions to assure the puppies' continued health.

9. I will confirm that potential new owners have appropriate housing for the pet. I will make buyers aware of their responsibilities as dog owners. I will not sell or donate dogs to commercial dog dealers, wholesalers, brokers, retailers such as pet shops or any other person or organization, for resale or "give-away" to the public. I will not supply puppies for charity auctions or raffles.

10. I will keep accurate records and keep those records for a minimum of five years. These records will include stud service contracts, pedigrees, all litters of puppies or dogs for placement, and all those the ownership of which was transferred.

11. When transferring ownership of an animal, I will provide the new owner the following:

  1. A properly executed Registration Certificate, together with full written disclosure of the name of the Registry and its standards and requirements. Registration certificates can be withheld with the written condition that the new owner provides proof of spay or neuter from a licensed veterinarian. If the pet is not to be registered, a written statement disclosing this fact and identifying the precise date of birth, and the registration numbers of the Sire and Dam.
  2. A three-generation, signed pedigree noting a minimum of 3 confirmed champions.
  3. A health record including copies of health clearances and dates on which vaccines and parasite control medication was administered.
  4. Diet and care information.
  5. A health guarantee.
